English/Language Arts with Mrs. Scott
Welcome to 6th grade ELA! My name is Mrs. Scott and I will be your ELA teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. This is my sixth year teaching ELA at Hernando Middle School. I am excited to get to know you and to see what this year will bring!
In my classroom, I expect my students to respect themselves, their peers, and me. I have high expectations for each of them and look forward to seeing them grow, learn, and meet the challenges of the year with a good attitude and growth mindset.
I am a graduate of the University of Mississippi. HOTTY TODDY!! I received a Bachelors of Arts in Education with concentrations in English and Social Studies. I also have an endorsement in Special Education. I graduated with honors and received the award for Outstanding Student Teacher of the year for the University of Mississippi.
This is my sixth year teaching sixth grade English/Language Arts! I completed my student teaching at Horn Lake Intermediate and Southaven Intermediate.
Before my student teaching, I was employed by Hernando Middle School as a Special Education Assistant for two years. I love my HMS family and I am thrilled to continue to teach the children of Hernando!
I have been married for 21 years to my husband, Michael. We have five beautiful children, two girls and three boys. All of my children have attended Hernando schools since we moved here in 2009 and we LOVE it! My oldest daughter, Morghan, is now married and lives in Florida. My daughter, Halle, graduated last year from HHS and is manager and coach at Conxions Gym in Hernando. My son, Landon, is a senior, Jake is a freshman, and Jaiden is an eighth grader. My family attends church at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Arlington, TN. I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and family movie night. I am so excited to be a part of the HMS family! GO TIGERS!
