Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you and your child! It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventure and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Middle School. I earned my bachelor degree from Mississippi State University - GO DAWGS! In addition to being licensed to teach 7-12 English, I am highly qualified to teach K-6, 7-8 Math, 7-12 Social Studies, and 7-12 General Sciences. I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Education in Reading at Arkansas State University (Projected Graduation - 12/2023).
Although I have been with DeSoto County Schools since 2019, this will be my second year teaching at Hernando Middle School. I absolutely love teaching 7th grade! It is my mission to instill a love for learning in my students. I strive to teach with a passion so that my students become life-long learners. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is so important to keep communication open between us and I would love to talk to you whenever you feel the need. My students are required to read in class EVERYDAY.
Students are given the opportunity to read a book of their choice or
one I suggest. There will also be times I assign a specific book for
reading assignments.
With that said, just as your child is reading at school, they should also be reading at home. Here are a few helpful tips to ensure your child’s reading success in class and at home.

A = 90-100% B = 80-89% C = 70-79% D = 65-69% F = 0-64%
ALL incomplete/late/missing assignments will remain 0% until it is turned in & graded.
Even though I do not appreciate late work, I do accept it. HOWEVER, any assignment that is turned in more than TWO (2) days late will receive an immediate one full letter grade penalty.
