Welcome Class of 2030!!!!

I am so happy that you will be in my science class this year! I look forward to teaching science this year. This is my 16th year teaching. I taught third grade for three years and fifth grade for one year at Southaven Intermediate. I transferred to HMS in 2012 and I have been teaching sixth grade science ever since. I am licensed to teach K-6 elementary education, K-12 special education, 7-12 English, and 7-12 Social Studies. In addition to teaching science, this year I will be one of the student council sponsors.

I live in Hernando with my family. I have three children, Matt (an 11 th grader  at HHS, Kyle (an 8th grader here at HMS), and Kinsley (a 4th grader at OGCE).  We attend the Hernando Campus of Compel Church.

Classwise, I am very easy going! I tell my students that science is fun. I don't typically see any behavior issues, as science is FUN. I want the kids to enjoy learning. It may look a little different this year, but I will do my best to keep it fun.

This year I will use SchoolStatus as my sole means of communication. What you see, a normal text message/ phone call. You can just reply to any text I send and it comes straight to me. Plus you don't have to sign up. Contact numbers are based on the numbers that are listed in PowerSchool. The down side, I can't add numbers. If the number is not in PowerSchool, I can not text you. What I see, an app! I am able to send out one message to all parents in all classes or I can send a single message to one parent. 90% of the time I get an immediate alert that I have a message. There is the small percentage that I'll get a delayed alert. I will respond as soon as I get a message.

Emails- when you email me from the school website it will go to my SPAM folder. I do check my SPAM folder multiple times each day, but I don't get any alerts for it.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you!
