Bio
This year I am starting my 17th year as a speech language pathologist and honestly, I can hardly believe it. I attended Delta State University to receive my B.S. in Speech Pathology, and then went on to attend The University of Mississippi to receive my M.S. in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. I have been employed as a Speech Language Pathologist since 2006. I'm a native of DeSoto County. I attended Southaven Elementary, Middle, and High schools. I am a wife and a mother of one, who has lived in DeSoto County her entire life. I have a large family who all live close to this area. Family is the most important aspect of life to me. I also have a puppy named Perdita, and a crazy cat named SkippyJon Jones (it's from a series of books) In previous years I worked in the healthcare field in skilled nursing facilities, and I still help as needed working with swallowing, stroke, TBI, and dementia patients. During 2019, I served as the Mississippi Speech Language and Hearing Association's Speech Education Advocacy Liaison, which was a great opportunity to help make a difference in educational speech pathology. I continue to serve on the schools committee and as the state ethics chairperson through MSHA and I am committed to the future of speech therapy services in the schools in MS. |
